I'm used to my mom requesting me to do things. Sometimes, she'll ask me to wash the dishes or grade her papers. Other times, I'm asked to do a writeup for her. But today, I was eating yogurt in the comfort of my own room when my mom suddenly knocked on the door.
"Trudy, there's something I need you to do."
I sigh, thinking that she's going to ask me to clean my room for the umpteenth time.
But I was wrong. Very wrong.
"I need you to get the digital camera," she said. "There are frogs mating in the yard."
"What?" I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. My mom wanted me to take pictures of frogs consummating? Don't they deserve a little bit of privacy?
No, apparently not. My mom was insistent and I was the only one still in the house that knew how to use the camera. I got up, grabbed the camera out of my bag, and started shooting.
If you have not had the "pleasure" of watching frogs mate, it's a very "interesting" process. There are some loud-pitched croaks and some missionary-style sex (female frog on top, I'm guessing). For the most part, it's a bunch of awkward jostling around--kind of like a bad smutty fanfic.
If you want to live the experience for yourself (minus the croaking, which I guarantee you was most of the experience), I also recorded the process for a few seconds, though it's incredibly low-quality. My sister is the one holding the light over the frogs as they get it on. She, sadly, was just as excited as my mother about recording the frogs getting intimate.
I really hope this isn't some sort of weird fetish.
